Mission Statement

The Company’s mission is to provide broadband Internet access and associated broadband services such as VoIP to underserved markets in the United States using WiMAX fixed wireless technology.

This market consists of 12 million households and will generate $4.8 billion in annual Internet access and VoIP telephony revenue.

Wireless data transmission is the nation’s most rapidly expanding technology segment.  The market is on the brink of an explosive expansion of wireless networks.  On January 18, 2006 Broadband Wireless Online magazine reported that the WiMAX equipment market for fixed/portable applications may be worth more than $3 billion by 2010.

When the 1996 Telecom Act was passed, Congress was explicit that telecom service in rural areas be comparable to what was available in urban areas, including access to advanced telecommunications and information services. At this early stage of broadband deployment, rural customers do not have equal access at reasonable rates despite measures by the FCC to insure universal service.

According to a report entitled A Nation Online: Entering the Broadband Age, published by the U.S. Department of Commerce in September 2004, 75% of rural Internet households do not have broadband connections.

Twenty months later (May 2006) the United States Government Accountability Office (GAO), in a report to Congressional Committees stated that 83% of households in rural areas do not have broadband access.

Some of the reasons for the discrepancy are well-known:

  • Poorer quality of plant which limits telcos' capability of providing high-speed service. Some of the poorest quality plant in the country is located in rural areas.
  • Lower population density per square mile, reducing providers' economies of scale.
  • Lower proportion of business telecom customers in rural service areas, resulting in less revenue for the provider.

Simply put, the expense to install DSL equipment or build out cable networks is not justified by the return on investment in rural communities.

FIXED WIRELESS BROADBAND REQUIRES MUCH LESS INFRASTRUCTURE, NO WIRE OR CABLE TO BRIDGE THE LAST MILE GAP AND, AS A RESULT, SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER CAPITAL EXPENSE.
